Time to study...

Travel. Many of my favorite memories come from the sights, smells, and feelings that traveling to a new destination brings. I have always been in awe of those that spend their days achieving their dreams of traveling the world around them, not just touring big cities, but taking a closer look to elaborate and enjoy the true towns of that country. Every city I've traveled to has been beautiful and breathtaking, though when I would drive to the outskirts, my views changed to awe and wonder. The true towns, that are masked by the city lights are those worth remembering.

By following a blog on world traveling, I hope to be able to understand what the writer was feeling when they had gone through the world of exploration. To get even a glimpse of the history behind the city buildings would be an adventure on its own.

  1. "Every city I've traveled to has been beautiful and breathtaking, though when I would drive to the outskirts, my views changed to awe and wonder. " - would you say this about more culturally different areas that are often key locations for criminal origins... such as: Hilltop? Or areas in Parkland/Tacoma?

  2. What's wrong with those areas?! I think that you are letting your personal preference towards these areas sway your opinion of areas that could have good people! Such a blatant act of generalization is intolerable in modern society.

I am just referring to statistics. Almost 100 people out of a thousand have some sort of criminal records (be it stealing a doughnut or killing a man).

Not to mention, those areas are fairly underdeveloped. Aside from Downtown Tacoma, it can be a fairly accurate depiction of "the hood".

  4. Okay, but maybe the beauty comes from the one family who has no money, and yet still continues to give their food to their elderly neighbours. The fact that you are saying that no beauty can come from an "underdeveloped" city is very ignorant indeed! Beauty comes from the eye of the beholder, and obviously you are BLIND.

  5. Dictionary.com defines beauty as:
"the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest)."
Tell me, where does it say "This only pertains where there is no crime"?

  6. Gives intense pleasure? Crimes (rape, murder, larceny, etc) gives intense pleasure? Sure - it's not impossible or unheard of, I just didn't take Marissa to be the sadistic, nor the masochistic type.

Also, I have never claimed that anything is wrong with finding Tacoma beautiful, I just felt inclined to clarify her statement and find out if all situations are true for her statement.

  7. Once again, you focus on the rape, murder, and larceny, and leave out the things that could be wodnerful about Tacoma.
Also, if you are clarifying, do it in a way that doesn't sound as if you are accussing her way of thinking! It is rude and unacceptable!
